Eat a Cookie, Save the Oceans

Wednesday November 28, 2007
We have suggested several ways families can celebrate the holidays by contributing to great causes, but we couldn't resist the "Eat a Cookie, Save the Oceans" program when we recently heard of it.

Nonprofit Oceana has teamed with a famous baker, Warren Brown of the Food Network, to give one of Brown's cherished recipes (a sugar cookie in this case), a cookie cutter in the shape of an ocean critter, oven mitt, and adoption certificate when supporters virtually "adopt" one or more of sixteen marine animals. The donations go to Oceana's work of protecting the world's oceans.

See all the creatures at Oceana.org/adopt and then start baking the cookies in the shape of your adopted critter. Cookie critters will make a great gift from your family to loved ones and jazz up your holiday celebrations, all while doing good.
