I don't know exactly why, but I always feel energized in January and make resolutions that this year I will be more productive and upgrade my knowledge and skills.
Fulfilling that resolution is much easier now, given the availability of low-cost and even free teleseminars (those conducted over the phone) and webinars (phone plus Internet). I don't even have to leave my office or home to get educated.
Just in case you have the same resolution, here are some resources for nonprofit online courses:
Infinity Fundraising Seminars. Infinity is run by a couple of fundraising pros and features some of the best known names in the nonprofit world. Costs run about $150 each. You can sign up for an email service that will alert you to seminars on your favorite topics.
The Philanthropy Journal. This well-known publication offers webinars on a variety of topics. They are often free or very low cost.
The Nonprofit Technology Network or NTEN. If you want to catch up on the tech aspects of your work (and who doesn't?), check out NTEN's impressive array of webinars. Cost is $25 for members of NTEN and $50 for nonmembers.
Charity University is part of CharityChannel.com. It offers live teleclasses and recorded classes that you can download when you need them. Costs are in the range of $100.
The Foundation Center offers a webinar on "Grantseeking Basics." The organization also has several training courses you can take online with fees starting at free to over $100.
Idealware, a site that reviews software products for nonprofits, is offering a series of tech-oriented online seminars at a very reasonable cost.
If you know of other webinars for nonprofits or if you are giving one yourself, just let us know in the comments section below.
