This Holiday, Philanthropy Requires Solomonic Wisdom

If you are fortunate enough to be philanthropic during this holiday season, it is time to be cautious as well as charitable. With the economy on life-support, charities underfunded, and so many people in need, how do you make sure your donation is creating the greatest good? Charity Navigator, which rates charities, suggests these tips:
- Get the biggest bang for your buck.
- Marry philanthropy and gift giving.
- Give to charities that help the less fortunate.
- Choose charities where the CEO is reasonably (not outlandishly) compensated.
- Donate online.
