I’m writing to inform you about a powerful and exciting new fundraising and marketing tool is helping the Toronto not‐for‐profit community climb to new heights. We understand that during these tough economic times, it’s important to stretch the donor’s dollars and marketing resources as far as possible. BidWhack combines the popularity of text messaging with a novel auctioning platform into an innovative fundraising tool. This fascinating new company offers the opportunity for everyone to participate and anyone to win.
The aptly named “BidWhack” borrows its moniker from Bay Street jargon where it refers to an investor who sells shares at or below the bid price. This is considered outside counterproductive, as sellers normally settle for a price between the bid and ask quotes. BidWhack, however, employs a dynamic and interactive reverse auctioning platform, meaning the lowest unique bid wins. Participants win items worth thousands every week, for just a few dollars. In this way, BidWhack exceeds what conventional auctioning websites like Ebay can accomplish. It offers the chance to bid on and win exceptional products for pennies, to a massive―and growing―population.
While, it can truly be said that this exciting new company will not be undersold, its focus on social change cannot be understated. At the core of its business operations, BidWhack is striving to be a leader in corporate social responsibility. The company is committed to raising funds and awareness for various worthy causes. BidWhack is proving itself to be very powerful and efficient in these goals. During the recent Grey Cup, for example, the company partnered with the Ciccone Group and the Trinity Foundation in auctioning off and all expenses paid trip to Montreal and tickets to the game. This initiative was a massive success, raising nearly $14,000 for The Argos Foundation; a group dedicated to curbing youth violence in our communities. The winner of the Grey Cup Auction was the less‐than‐text‐savvy 41 year old Mary Joy M. of Guelph, Ontario, with a winning bid of only $1.23. The Grey Cup auction demonstrated how BidWhack can generate greater return on investment for not‐for‐profits than conventional options. Also, by not limiting potential donors to only those with large disposable incomes, it offers a far greater reach both in terms of donorship and branding. In fact, you don’t even need to take out the cheque book to donate to the charities that BidWhack is working with. All you need is a cell phone, and a dollar.
More recently BidWhack, with its charitable partner the Canadian Safe School Network (CSSN), has launched its 1st Annual Quality Video Contest to engage budding talent in the multi‐media, film and creative industries to produce positive, impactful and educational videos. Employing their auctioning platform for judging purposes, BidWhack hopes to promulgate the CSSN values of respect, cooperation, honesty, kindness and empathy. As the son of a missionary family, growing up in the frequently violent atmosphere of the Congo (Africa), community safety is a topic that strikes close to home for founder and CEO William Willner. ” We are proud to support CSSN as the charitable beneficiary of our video contest because every young person has the right to feel safe where they live and learn.”

Philanthropic travel is more than a mere luxury or diversion; it is a source of deep personal fulfillment, providing a powerful connection to the world in which we live.

As travelers develop ties to their favorite destinations and look for ways to give back to the communities they visit, philanthropic travel introduces open-hearted travelers to local residents and helps them understand the challenges of the people in the places they visit.

Philanthropic travel generates resources for outreach programs that support and empower people by providing clean water, medical and dental facilities, schools, training, jobs, homes, microfinance and entrepreneurial guidance.
