Recession Blues? Take a Deep Breath and Release Slowly
I'm a news junkie and regretting it every day.
I'm sitting out March in the sunny Southwest, but the television in my guest quarters has only basic cable. When I arrived, I immediately went into CNN and CNBC withdrawal, so addicted have I become to news on demand. Instead, every evening I scrape together all the local news, the broadcast news, and a handful of news shows on PBS, slavishly sucking up the latest on the recession. Unfortunately, this is not helping me to relax...the primary reason I'm in the Southwest at the moment. By bedtime, I'm thoroughly depressed.
Larry Checco's guest article arrived just as I was heading out to bang my head on a saguaro cactus. It pulled me back and made me start looking for a "SMOJ," which is a little bit like a PB&J with a glass of milk, in its ability to comfort. Thanks, Larry!
Larry suggests nonprofits need to emerge from the recession blues, and gives us a tip about how to do it:
