Blog Action Day 09: Climate Change
Today thousands of bloggers are writing about climate change as part of BlogActionDay.org.
Here is my list of things to do, actions to take, and resources about climate change.
- October 24 is International Day of Climate Action. Actions will be taken across the globe to bring pressure on the important meeting in Copenhagen in December. There is a great map at 350.org (learn what 350 means) that you can keep drilling down until you find a local action to take part in. I found one just blocks away.
- Climate Change 101. Everything you want to know about the dangers and the solutions, by the Pew Center on Global Climate Change.
- Al Gore spells out 15 ways that individuals can address climate change immediately, from buying a hybrid to inventing a new, hotter "brand name" for global warming. A TED presentation.
- Slate, in The New Progressive CEOs, praises corporate leaders who are abandoning the U.S. Chanber of Commerce and its denial of the need for climate legislation. The article says, "...during this deep recession, there are few global-warming-denying libertarians in the boardroom."
- From Fast Company comes "Forget Grassroots Environmentalism; Branson's Carbon War Room Is Taking Charge" about how the big guys are getting involved in climate change issues. Earlier, the magazine reported on the $1 Billion George Soros is putting into clean energy.
- John Kerry and Lindsey Graham say, "Yes We Can (Pass Climate Change Legislation)," in the NYTimes.
- The Environmental Guide at about.com lists the Top 10 Things You Can Do to Reduce Global Warming.
- Watch the countdown to Copenhagen and join Global Citizens for Climate Action.
