- There have been a lot of warnings about scammers taking advantage of the Haitian crisis to divert your donations to their own nefarious purposes. The article explains how scammers target psychological weaknesses that we all tend to have.
- Beth Kanter, of Beth's Blog, reaches out to techies with some ideas about how you can help Haiti relief efforts in Micro Volunteering for the Haiti Earthquake. Opportunities include image tagging, photo matching, and crisis mapping.
- It hadn't occurred to me that the crisis in Haiti, where the infrastruction has been destroyed including energy sources, might be ideal for using some of the bright new ideas in alternative energy. Triplepundit has published Solar-Power Innovations Helping Haiti, explaining some of the devices that are being donated to the relief effort and that operate on sun power, something Haiti has in abundance. They include a solar powered oven, cell phones, lights, computers, and audio Bibles.
