Three important elements of a great branding program for your nonprofit are a terrific, public-facing mission statement, a memorable logo, and a motivational tagline.

This month, it's all about taglines. Nancy Schwartz of Getting Attention, has sent out the call for submissions to the 2012 Nonprofit Tagline Awards. The deadline is July 25th, so you need to think about submitting yours right now. If you have multiple taglines, say one for your overall messaging and others for specific campaigns, you can submit up to five of them.

Besides finding out how your tagline stacks up to others and getting to learn from the Tagline report in the fall, there is another very good reason to enter this year: every entrant will be invited to Nancy's free webinar, Aha Messages--4 Ways to Test message Relevance. This is not to be missed since Nancy is one of the preeminent nonprofit marketers today, and she knows more about taglines than anyone I know.

Nancy's recent Nonprofit Messages Survey found that 71% of nonprofits don't have an organizational tagline or rate theirs as performing poorly.

Don't let that happen to you. There is power in the tagline, so join in now by submitting yours. You'll help build Nancy's database of taglines and have the opportunity to participate in the conversation about what makes a great tagline.
