The premiere event for anyone involved in AIDS work returns to the US. AIDS2012 will be held in Washington DC July 22-27 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

The theme of the conference is an optimistic one: "Turning the Tide Together." And there is reason for optimism as new drug therapies, better ways of testing for HIV, and more ways of raising awareness all emerge.

Who will be at the conference? Policy makers, people who are living with HIV, advocates, scientists, international development representatives, and AIDS organization members.

The organizers of the conference expect :

  • 20,000 delegates from nearly 200 countries
  • over 2,000 journalists
  • more than 700 volunteers
  • 250 sessions
  • more than 10,0000 abstract submissions

Even if you won't be at the conference, there are numerous ways to keep up. With more than 2,000 journalists expected to attend, there will be no shortage of news coverage, but you can also stay up to date through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and the conference's blog. There will also be many webcasts of key presentations and sessions.

The conference website is the go-to resource for all of these possibilities, plus plenty of additional help.
