Ashoka's CBI Competitions

By Joanne Fritz, About.com

To identify and build citizen base organizations, Ashoka has invited budding social entrepreneurs to enter its CBI Competitions. Groups submit a strategic plan and/or business plan to demonstrate their concept and how they plan to implement it. Winners of these competitions receive funding and also training and consulting services to help them build their capacity and to publicize their organizations.

Ashoka has been a leader in identifying and helping social entrepreneurs across the globe. Through CBI, it is also making sure that these entrepreneurs break out of the silo of grants and similarly limited sources of support. Building a solid and complex base of community support creates success and longevity.
