Incorporation

By Joanne Fritz, About.com

Definition:

Most states have specific provisions for the formation of nonprofit corporations. There will be a form to file and attachments such as a list of the people who are forming the corporation, articles of incorporation and, sometimes, bylaws, and a fee.

You don't have to incorporate in the state in which you will be operating but, if not, you will likely have to file some similar documents in your home state.

Contact your Secretary of State or comparable office and ask them for the appropriate application forms and list of necessary attachments.
