Name of Your Cause

Characters of Character is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organizaiton. It teaches children strong civic values with the use of their Promising Practice Award winning character education program and also their costumed characters.

In 2005 the program was piloted in an elementary school where it went on to win a National Promising Practice Award. In 2007 Characters received their 501(c)(3) status from the government.

Today, Characters works tirelessly sharing their program and the characters with children, schools and communities providing them with the tools to teach their children about good character.

The One Very Best Thing About Your Cause

With donations, we are able to provide schools with an entire character education program. As many of you are aware, education continues to lose funding. By placing this program into schools will provide positive role models creating a warmer climate for the children, the staff, the schools, homes and the community.

This will help bring awareness to children to learn about the importance of healthy habits, good character and being a better citizen. This is accomplished with the Characters of Character and the lessons they teach and represent. We teach fine motor skills, literacy, art projects, communication skills, positive role modeling and character strength building.

This program provides support for early childhood education, offering an effective academic and strong health and social, emotional service program to help improve the education and life outcomes of children of all races, creeds and cultures. Quality early childhood eduction is an investment that pays off for years to come preparing the youngest children for a lifetime of learning.

Characters of Character participated in The Chicago Land Kids Expo where they shared the costume characters with the community. They were embraced wholeheartedly not only for their cuteness, but for the messages that each of them shared with the children and their families.

Since then, Characters has been invited to participate in many other events. Prior to this, we volunteered our message with a characters bags game passing out bookmarks, coloring pages and discussions with patrons about good character.

Why My Cause Is So Important

Characters of Character is aware of the many worthy causes and praises each of them. However, because education seems to continually limit funds, this program provides positive role models for both the children, and adults, which created a warmer climate and community.

How I Got Involved With My Cause

I created the characters from a puppet art project. It then grew into a behavioral, learning program for a disabled classroom, then piloting into an elementary school. Formed a nonprofit and continue to grow, to learn and to share our characters with others every opportunity we get!
