Name of Your Cause

Revival Gear Project

This 501(c)3 organization was started out of a need for foster children to have something to put their belongings in when they move, other than a black trash bag. We are trying to let them know that there are people who care about them and to build their self-esteem.

The One Very Best Thing About Your Cause

Foster children will have a sturdy duffel bag made with fun fabrics that they can use even after they are settled. The bags have a label where they can print their names so it will always belong to them and can later be used for camping, sleep-overs, toys, etc.

Advice

  • Everything is donated and volunteers sew the bags
  • Duffel bag kits are made ahead of time so there is no cutting, just sewing
  • Duffel bags can be made and hygiene supplies given for only $10 per bag complete
  • Monetary donations can be made on our website through PayPal at RevivalGearProject.org
  • Others can have the free pattern and use it to make duffel bags for foster kids in their own area of the country

Why My Cause Is So Important

In Nebraska alone in 2008, over 9,000 children were in and out of home care. Children all over the country are put in foster care by the thousands. If in some way, a duffel bag will let them know that someone cares, it may help with the trauma they are experiencing. These children are our future!

How I Got Involved With My Cause

My grandson was adopted through foster care when he was 13 and all his belongings came in a black trash bag - just like garbage. My daughter first thought of suitcases but found that to be impractical. Since her dad was in the Navy, a duffel bag looked promising so I created a pattern.

Joanne Fritz, Nonprofit Charitable Orgs Guide, says:

Wow! I am so moved by this. The thought of those black trash bags just wrenched my heart. Best of luck to this terrific cause!
