- Without enough resources early on, some marketing tactics may need to be postponed. The good news is there are a few things you can do to avoid some common missteps, until you can engage a full PR/marketing plan. Here are three: 1. Do create, or re-create a succinct and enthusiastic mission statement. 2.Your website is only as good as its visual appeal and useful, engaging, and changing content, in comparison to other like causes. If you can’t commit to working the site, wait. 3. Do “own” your hedgehog because it’s critical in marketing/pr work to believe your nonprofit’s work can be the best at its key offering. Once you can share what your nonprofit is passionate about, and knows it can be the best at, targeted media exposure will be most effective.
